Today was a long but sunny day of sightseeing—starting with a morning walk at the gardens of Henry VIII’s Hampton Court where we saw the oldest grapevine in the world; a drive to Salisbury, where we saw the tallest medieval spire in England and one of four original copies of the Magna Carta; followed by Stonehenge, where we had the least informative audio tour in the entire United Kingdom (“We don’t know how these stones were brought here or what purpose they served!”); followed by Bath, where we saw the Roman Baths (did I say Stonehenge had the least informative audio tour?).
The biggest piece of information yet: I’m fatter than I’ve ever been in my life… And I mean it this time.

HAHAHA The audio tour...worthless. Went hand in hand with the "we close down the baths and you're able to take an exclusive torch lit tour." It was 5:30, it's not even dark :)
Hey there! Stumbled on your blog totally by accident and I just have to say how relieved I was to read that someone else has had the same experience I had had seeing the Histories in Stratford ... ie going away feeling sad. It has been such a special, special experience for me (I was lucky enough to see the same cast start their journey with the Henry VIs and Richard III last year) and even though I am luckier than you, in that I'll be here to see Henry V and then watch them do all eight history plays in a row next March. But even now, I am getting Pre-Depressed in the knowledge that too soon, the journey will be over. Anyway love your blog and am very jealous of you getting to meet Jonathan Slinger and Geoffrey Streatfeild. And adore your description of Slinger as an actor who can make rolling up his sleeves an act of religious devotion. What was he like in person? Wish you could have seen him as Richard III-to-be in the Henry 6 plays - have never seen anything as scary in decades of theatre-going as him, alone on stage in H6 part 3, explaining his decision to turn against everyone and everything in order to become king. Genuinely physically and emotionally terrifying. Anyway will stop rambling! Thanks again for your blog!
